About us
Fred is a board-certified music therapist with 10 years of experience working with various populations in various settings. He has worked with patients as young as 2-months old in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), K-12 special education classrooms, and as old as 102 years old in hospice.
Fred is currently working on his doctoral dissertation from the University of Miami where he will earn a PhD in Music Education with an emphasis in Music Therapy. As a graduate teaching assistant, Fred supervised undergraduate music therapy practicum students and provided music therapy services to children and young adults with eating disorders at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. Fred also earned his master’s in music therapy from Florida State University and bachelor’s in music therapy from the University of the Pacific— one of the first programs in the country to offer Music Therapy as a degree.
Fred is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Alabama- Birmingham (UAB) and was the Director of Music Therapy Clinical Practice at the University of Alabama (UA). Fred holds certifications in Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT), NICU-Music Therapy (NICU-MT), and Orff-Level 1. As a form of self-care, Fred enjoys fishing and hanging out with his wife and 5 dogs at home.
