Android UI Design Patterns & Anti-Patterns

When John Hammink left his job as a software engineer, to pursue his passion as a digital artist, he became aware of an enormous gap between application developers and application designers, “they simply weren’t speaking the same language.” So, he started working on a curriculum to teach programmers the essentials of Android UI.

This talk introduces these basic concepts to developers, gathered primarily from Android’s Creative Vision and Design Principles, and is geared towards revealing the simple patterns that exist within well designed user experiences. John also goes over several anti-patterns, or, examples of things not to do.

Most recently, John teaches Android, Design, and several other trainings here at ProTech.
